L'Imprévu à Phnom Penh - The resort l'Imprévu in Phnom Penh

My friend Jacques b. was formerly the owner of the resort l'Imprévu, nestled in tropical greenery, located 7 km from Phnom Penh down town. A quiet, welcoming, full of charm, popular spot loved by the Khmers and by the French colony.

Today, we returned for a drink. Do you have a tonic please ? Mnnh. No, there is more... Soda water? Yes but I have no more one that is cool, however I have ice cubes...

The place is now held by a guy who doesn't take care of the resort and gripe about everything. Staff? It costs... The recycling of the swimming pool, it costs... Watering the plants? it costs...

The once dashing and welcoming place became grey of dust, plants are stunted, the roofs of the bungalows have lost their finery of straw, the pool water is questionable, dirty tables, cushions full of dubious spots...

In short... We'll never come back again and we strongly advise to avoid this place.

It's about small markets, humble, pleasant, where you can buy vegetables and meat for the next day and take a snack. At the end of afternoon, around 5:00 pm, this small market located on the route of the canal (Klong road), 700 or 800 m north of the traffic light, comes alive and the motorbikes are converging and congregate.
In addition to our shopping, we have digged out a dessert that we like: the Khao niao mamuang. It is a handful of sticky rice watered with sweet thick Coconut cream and served with mango. A real treat.
